Course Description
The Basic Life Support (BLS) teaches skills using the American Heart Association’s proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback, and guide students’ acquisition of skills. With their student manual for the course, students receive the new Pocket Reference Card, designed to provide quick emergency information to the rescuer at any time.
Successful completion requires the student to pass both a written and skills evaluation. Students receive the BLS course completion card good for 2 years.
Books/ Provider Manuals: The American Heart Association requires ALL students to bring the corresponding AHA provider manual with them to their course. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
The AHA has eBooks available for purchase for BLS! If you choose to purchase an eBook, go to www.ebooks.heart.org in order to download the book. Note: If you did not purchase the eBook through our registration process you must show your instructor you have the eBook on your portable device (iPad, tablet or smart phone)
It is strongly suggested that you purchase your provider manual well before your course date and prepare yourself for the course using this manual.

- The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
- 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child, and infant
- 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child, and infant
- Differences between adult, child, and infant rescue techniques
- Bag-mask techniques for adult, child, and infant
- Rescue breathing for adult, child, and infant
- Relief of choking for adult, child, and infant,
- CPR with an advanced airway
Intended Audience
This course is designed for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, and respiratory therapists who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.
If blended training is preferred, the classroom portion can be taken online with skills validation done by individual appointment.
BLS can also be offered at your location for your staff or our classroom by appointment.
